I’ve been taking this tonic daily now for a while and can confirm its efficacy, particularly for generalized anxiety but also immunity and “chill vibes.” Most ingredients– with a couple of exceptions– should be readily accessible via reputable herbal goods suppliers like Mountain Rose Herbs.
- Strawberry tree (Arbutus unedo) – fresh or dried – 8 ripe fruits
- Chili peppers (Capiscum spp.) – dried fruit – cultivar per your preferred spice level (I like Serranos or spicy Hatch) – 2 c (including seeds)
- Garlic (Allium sativum) – 4-5 cloves, crushed
- Dandelion (Taraxacum off.) – leaves and root, dried – 1 c
- Enchanter’s Nightshade* (Circea alpina) – small handful, whole plant, dried
- Hibiscus (Hibiscus sabdariffa) – flower, dried – 1/2 c
- Gentian (Gentiana lutea) – root, dried – 2 tbsp
- Szechuan peppercorn (Zanthoxylum sp.) – 2 tbsp, crushed
- Schisandra (Schisandra chinensis) – fruit, dried – 2 tbsp, crushed
- Oat Straw (Avena sativa) – dried – 1 tbsp
- Ashwaganda (Withania somnifera) – root, powdered – 1 tbsp
- Cordyceps (Cordyceps spp.) – fruiting body, powdered – 1 tbsp
- Apple Cider Vinegar (preferably with mother but it’s ok if you can’t find that) – to cover
*Enchanter’s nightshade may not be easy to find, so it’s optional.
I also add two tbsp of Amanita muscaria spagyric, but you should only do that if you’re experienced with this particular spirit.
Macerate (soak) in a covered vessel for 4-6 weeks, shaking daily. After the potion is strong enough to your tastes, drain, squeezing any remaining liquid from the solids. Keep covered and store in the fridge. It’ll stay good and potent for as long as your apple cider vinegar does.
Take 1-2 droppers in a glass of juice or water each morning.
As always, I’m just a guy on the internet, so check with your healthcare provider before trying this thing.
